A RESPONDING policeman and a farmer were killed in an encounter in Bauan, Batangas, Saturday morning, a report said.

Bauan Municipal Police Station chief Lt. Col Karlos Lanuza identified the killed cop as P/Cpl Reynan Manalo, of legal age, a member of the Philippine National Police (PNP), assigned at Bauan MPS and resident of Mataas na Lupa, San Pascual.

The suspect, who was also killed, was identified as Jollyben Montoya, 38, single, farmer, a native of San Andres, Romblon, and a resident of Bgy. San Teodoro, Bauan.

A telephone call was received by Bauan MPS reporting an attempted stabbing incident occurred at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2022 in Sitio Tubog, Bgy. San Teodoro, Bauan.

Case officers PEMS Raymond D. Matibag and PCpl Enrique said Bauan MPS Patrol Section members led by P/Cpl Reynan M. Manalo went to the area and recognized the suspect as the same person whom they had apprehended two times earlier for the same offense.

The suspect went home after the police talked to him.

However, the cop fell to the ground, and the suspect proceeded to stab him in the chest.

The two other policemen shot the suspect.

The victim and suspect were rushed to Bauan Doctor’s General Hospital where the suspect was declared dead on arrival. The cop died while undergoing medical treatment by Dr. Celso Aline at around 11:10 a.m.
