A TOP drug trafficking suspect in Central Visayas was arrested by the local police in a buy-bust operation in Compostela, Cebu, which led to the seizure of a kilo of shabu worth P6.8 million, Police Regional Office 7 (PRO7) Director Brig. Gen. Roque Edgardo DP Vega said on Saturday.

In a report to the Philippine National Police chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., the Central Visayas police director said the suspect is listed as a “high-value individual” in the region.

Vega said that the suspect yielded a kilo of the so-called “poor man’s cocaine” valued at P6.8 million during the entrapment operation in Compostela municipality last Tuesday.

The suspect is now facing non-bailable charges for the sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Azurin commended the PRO7 for their latest accomplishment in the campaign against illegal drug trafficking and abuse.

“Our ongoing efforts to curb criminality [are] aimed at providing everyone a safe environment to live so everyone can feel how beautiful life is. The PNP is determined to fulfill its duty [to] the general public,” he said as he congratulated Vega and his men for their feat.
