
Cavite all set for election day
TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite — All roads leads to polling places today, May 9, 2022, as 2,302,353 Caviteño registered voters to cast their votes for the next president, vice president, senators, party list, governor, vice governor, senators, board members and officials of the 8th legislative district.
“All system go na po tayo. All the Voting Counting Machines or VCMs have been distributed in all polling places,” said Atty. Patrick Enaje, Provincial Election Officer of Cavite,
“All ballots will be turned over to election boards exactly 12:01 a.m. of May 9, for seven cities and 16 municipalities. Hot spots in the province are Cavite City, Kawit, and the entire 1st District, then hardly contested Silang town. Yan lang po are areas of special concern dito,” said Atty. Enaje said in interview with the Journal Group.
Incumbent and reelectionist Governor Juanito ‘Jonvic’ Remulla Jr, who was elected in 2019 is seeking a second term as governor of Cavite with runningmate Vice Gobernatorial aspirant and incumbent Tagaytay Councilor Athena Tolentino, daughter of incumbent Cavite 8th district representative Abraham Tolentino and Tagaytay Mayor Agnes Tolentino.
The 23-year old Tolentino said that being a woman and a young politician is her advantage in running for Vice Governor. If elected, she will be the first female Vice Governor of the province.
Meanwhile, incumbent vice governor Jolo Revilla was elected for a third consecutive term in 2019 and is running as representative of the 1st district of Cavite.
