LAS Piñas mayoral candidate Carlo Aguilar is calling for a major upgrade to the city’s healthcare program, beginning with a proposal to increase the annual Green Card medical benefit from P30,000 to P50,000 per family member and expanding free access to medicines in all barangay health centers.

Aguilar said the enhanced Green Card program he plans to implement will be more accessible and ensure that residents receive medical assistance without favoritism or delay.

“My priority is the health of every Las Piñero,” Aguilar said. “Mahirap magkasakit sa panahon ngayon.” He stressed that improving and “depoliticizing” the Green Card system is a concrete step toward protecting residents from the burden of rising healthcare costs.

He also committed to expanding free medicine programs in all city health centers, given the economic hardships that the majority of residents are facing and the skyrocketing prices of medicines. Aguilar cited persistent complaints about medicine shortages and poor service in barangay health centers. He vowed to ensure that a broader range of essential medications will be available — especially for senior citizens and those on maintenance drugs.

“With medicine prices continuing to rise, we need to act urgently,” Aguilar said. “Our health centers should be fully stocked and responsive to the needs of our communities.

Aguilar outlined the following key components of a revamped Green Card program:

Digitalization of records and applications to speed up processing and reduce paperwork

Simplified requirements to remove red tape and clarify eligibility

He also vowed to end the “politicization” of health assistance, which he said has undermined public trust in the healthcare support system and left deserving families behind.

“I am committed to ensuring that the ‘Green Card’ benefit serves its true purpose – to provide timely medical assistance to those who need it most,” explained Aguilar. “I plan to implement stricter guidelines and streamline the procedures to eliminate any potential for political interference and expedite the release of funds to eligible beneficiaries, unlike today where it is being used for the political expediency of the incumbent officials.”

Aguilar’s proposed health reforms form a core part of his platform to modernize city services and put the well-being of Las Piñas residents at the forefront, as he challenges the incumbent leadership in the May 12 mayoral elections.
