IT’S all about improvement for Capital1 Solar Energy as it seeks a better showing in the coming Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference.

The Solar Spikers hopes to add more excitement by tapping the services of the young but explosive outside hitter from Russia Marina Tushova and their four new signees.

Capital1 will also pick second in the inaugural PVL Rookie Draft on July 8.

Tushova was warmly welcomed by team owners Mandy and Milka Romero who are both convinced her Filipino-like fighting spirit is beneficial not only for the club.

“We hope to bring more excitement to the fans that’s why we took her and the four other local players,” said Mandy Romero, who is slowly but surely transforming the Solar Spikers into a contender.

The 26-year-old Tushova last saw action for Sparta Nizhny Novgorod back home but she had also stints in France and Switzerland.

Capital1 has also acquired setter Iris Tolenada, who suited up for Korean club GS Caltex Seoul, ex-Galeries Tower standouts Shola Alvarez and Norielle Ipac, and Yumi Furukawa, formerly from Strong Group Athletics.

The Romero sisters are also excited about the Solar Spikers’ No. 2 overall pick in the draft.

Capital1 coach Roger Gorayeb said in a recent interview in the PVL Combine that he’s not only looking for another outside hitter but one who can easily adapt to his system and style.

“Whoever coach Roger and team will pick, we are certain she must be good,” said co-owner Milka Romero, oldest daughter of Rep. Mikee Romero (1Pacman) who once served as the godfather of Philippine amateur basketball.
