Bus vs oil tanker; 3 killed, scores hurt
ABUCAY, Bataan — Two drivers and a passenger were crushed to death while a number of passengers were wounded before dawn Wednesday when a passenger bus and an oil tanker collided head on along Roman Expressway, Brgy. Laon, Abucay, Bataan.
According to Major Dennis B. Duran, Abucay chief of police, killed on the spot were Walter Buenaventura, driver of Bataan Transit bus no. 144; Reynaldo Monte, of Norzagaray, Bulacan, driver of the oil tanker with CUU-757 and his passenger John Mark Victoria, also of Norzagaray.
Police investigation revealed that the Bataan Transit but was travelling northbound for Manila when the oil tanker, travelling south suddenly occupied the opposite lane, causing head on collition.
Police said as a result of the strong impact, both the drivers of the vehicles and a passenger were killed on the spot.
As of press time, police are still gathering how many bus passengers were wounded.
The oil tanker totally wrecked while the front area of the bus was damaged.
Duran said human error caused the mishap..
“All the passengers of the Bataan Transit were brought to the Bataan General Hospital for medical attention,” Duran reported.
The mishap caused monstrous traffic jam for several hours along the six-lane Roman highway.
