THE stepped up anti-criminality campaign of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office this week resulted in the killing of an armed drug trafficker following a shootout with undercover officers in Balagtas and the arrest of 147 others across the province, the Journal Group learned on Thursday.

Bulacan police director, Colonel Lawrence B. Cajipe identified the slain suspect as Joselito Mag-isa, the no. 1 most wanted drug personality in Balagtas municipality.

In a report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director, Brigadier General Valeriano T. de Leon, Cajipe said the suspect engaged members of the Balagtas Municipal Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit in a shootout in Barangay Santol after he sensed he was dealing with an undercover agent around 1:20 a.m. Tuesday.

The suspect ran to his house and climbed the roof where he continued trading shots with pursuing officers until he was hit and killed on the spot.

Recovered from the slain suspect were a chamber-loaded caliber .45 semi-automatic pistol with a magazine containing seven live ammunition, six heat-sealed plastic sachets containing shabu and the buy-bust money.

Cajipe said 42 other known drug personalities in the province were also arrested this week in separate anti-narcotics operations.

One of them identified as Jason Elardo was arrested in Bgy. Loma de Gato in Marilao town. The suspect yielded four plastic sachets with shabu, an improvised cal. .22 pistol with three live ammunition and the buy-bust money.
