POLICE Regional Office 5 (PRO5) director, Brigadier General Jonnel C. Estomo on Sunday announced the capture of one of Bicol region’s most elusive criminals wanted for two counts of rape since 2016.

The official identified the suspect as Ninoy San Jose, a pedicab driver from Barangay Sta. Cruz in Cabusao, Camarines Sur who has been named as the 3rd most wanted person in the municipality prior to his arrest.

Estomo said that members of the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office under Colonel Julius D. Guadamor arrested the suspect on the strength of a warrant for two counts of rape issued by Judge Evan Dizon of the Daet, Camarines Norte Regional Trial Court Branch 40 on May 4, 2016.

No bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the accused who became wanted for raping his victim in Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte five years ago.

On Saturday, Estomo reported the killing of an armed drug trafficking suspect following a shootout with undercover police officers in Labo, Camarines Norte.

The suspect whose real identity is still being validated engaged officers in a gunfight shortly after he sensed he was dealing with a poseur and was killed in the process.

Estomo said that the firefight erupted right after the suspect sold 25 grams of shabu worth P150,000 to the undercover agent.

The suspect was described as a known drug trafficker in Rizal who has transferred to Bicol region to elude a police manhunt.

An unidentified companion of the slain suspect who managed to flee at the height of the encounter is still being tracked down as of press time, said Estomo.
