THE Quezon City Fire District (QCFD) will deploy one firetruck with medicine kit in each of 10 areas in the city to assist pilgrims or devotees going to churches and other religious destinations as part of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)’s Oplan Semana Santa.

According to QC District Fire marshal Senior Supt. Aristotle Banaga, a tent and desk composed of at least six personnel would be set up beside each fire truck.

Each team will be on a one-day duty, one-day off shifting scheme from Wednesday to Saturday and they are dispatched in busy areas for pilgrims like Lagro, Fairview, San Bartolome, Marilag, Baesa, Talipapa, Novaliches, Batasan, Rolling Hills and Payatas.

“Ready silang tumulong sa mga nahihilo at yung mga nangangailangan ng medical attention, . . . andyan din sila para magbigay ng libreng bottled water para sa mga nauuhaw,” Banaga told this writer.

It has been a practice among Catholics during the Holy Week especially on the Holy Thursday and Good Friday to walk and go to several religious destinations like the popular Grotto Church in San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan.
