Batch 2000 sustains winning streak

YOUTH prevailed over experience as Batch 2000 crushed Batch 94, 72-52, to gain a share of the lead with T2000 in tthe 2023 ERJHS Alumni Sports Club basketball tournament at the Barangay. N.S. Amoranto covered court in Quezon City.

Headed by Shimoto Garcia, Batch 2000 drew big games from Patrick Gamboa, Dodgie Lagandaon and playing coach Ron Anthony Añasco to roll back Batch 94 and notch its third straight win in the month-long tournament.

Gamboa led the way with 22 points, Lagandaon added 13 and Anasco contributed 12 for Batch 2000.

Romeo Baez carried the fight for Batch 94 with 20 points, followed by Jay De los Santos with 16 and Robert Capistrano with 14.

Sharing the limelight were Batch 93, which defeated Batch 96, 73-68, and Batch 89 which downed Team 80s, 70-65.

Jeri Santos, Joseph Magpantay and playing coach Richard Nell joined hands to lead Batch 93 to its second win in three outings.

Santos topscored with 18 points, Magpantay had 16 points and Nell added 13.

Aries Aguas and Alvin Santos combined for 34 points for Batch 96, which dropped to 1-3.

Batch 89 relied on Jon Cano (15), Alvin Tanare (12) and William Meneses (10) in beating Team 80s for its second win in four matches.

Tonald Carrillo and Mike Gomez led Team 80s with 14 points apiece.

The annual tournament is supported by Barangay. N.S. Amoranto, led by Chairman Ato De Guzman, William Chua of Ping-Ping Lechon and Wangs Ballclub.
