Batangas PNP nets 101 suspects in weeklong ops

CAMP GEN. MIGUEL MALVAR, Batangas – At least 101 individuals were arrested by agents of the Batangas Police Provincial Office (BPPO) in the anti-criminality operations in the province from February 25 to March 3, Provincial Police PIO (Public Information Office) chief Police Lieutenant Pauline P. Fernando said Monday.

A report by Provincial Director P/Col. Pedro D. Soliba to Police Regional Office Calabarzon (Cavite/Laguna/Batangas/Rizal/Quezon) Regional Director P/Brigadier Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, the operatives of the Batangas PPO executed 20 arrest warrants, which resulted in a haul of 20 wanted suspects with various charges.

This includes the five “most wanted persons” (MWPs) at the provincial and city levels.

A 45-year-old construction worker and resident of San Pablo City, Laguna, and tagged as no. 3 MWP at the provincial level was nabbed based on a warrant of arrest in the case of violation of RA (Republic Act) 10591 or “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act” dated October 7, 2021, issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 6 of Tanauan City, Batangas.

The no. 5 MWP, also a construction worker, 39, and a resident of Calatagan, Batangas, was arrested based on a warrant of arrest issued by the RTC of Balayan, Batangas, on February 23 for violation of Sec. 5 Art. II of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

Authorities arrested an OFW, 38, of Tanauan, Batangas by virtue of an arrest warrant in the case of RA 8242 and four counts of estafa issued by the RTC Br. 58 of Lucena City in 2015 and by the RTC Br. 83, Tanauan City, Batangas on July 22, 2014.

The no. 1 MWP at the city level, a 30-year-old accountant, was apprehended last February 28 for an attempted murder case issued by RTC Br. 83 of Tanauan City.

The no. 2 MWP was arrested last February 28 for violation of the Omnibus Election Code issued by the RTC Br. 6 of Tanauan City.

Soliba said that 37 people were arrested for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and police seized 30.9 grams of shabu and 11.6 grams of marijuana with a Dangerous Drug Board (DDB) value of P214,602.

Meanwhile, anti-illegal operations collared 41 suspects, and P19,965 bet money was seized during the operations.

Three suspects were arrested for illegal possession of firearms, and six persons for the “gun return” program.
