Albay resident jailed for illegal guns

A 53-YEAR-OLD resident of Rapu-Rapu, Albay was hauled to jail by local police for illegal gun possession last Wednesday, Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5)director, Brigadier General Mario A. Reyes said Sunday.

Rogelio Abac Jr. alias ‘Harapharapan’ was arrested inside his residence in Purok 5, Bagosorungan in Barangay Dap-Dap which was raided by officers on the strength of a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 issued by a local court.

Recovered during the raid were a caliber .38 revolver with defaced serial numbers, two live .38 ammunition and four spent .38 casings and two holsters.

The suspect is now being held at the Rapu-Rapu police lock-up facility and is facing charges for violation of RA 10591.

Philippine National Police Officer-in-Charge(PNP-OIC), Lieutenant General Vicente D. Danao Jr. lauded the Bicol police for their latest accomplishment in the campaign against illegal firearms.

“I commend our local police authorities for staying committed in ensuring that the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunitions is strictly implemented and for apprehending violators thereof, to maintain peace and order and protect the community from violence,” Danao said.
