
Abra town mayor, vice mayor yield guns to police
THE Mayor and Vice Mayor of Pilar, Abra, whose men figured in a “standoff” with the local police last March 29 on Tuesday, surrendered their remaining licensed firearms to the authorities, Philippine National Police Officer-in-Charge (PNP-OIC) Lieutenant General Vicente D. Danao Jr. said on Thursday.
The top cop said that the Pilar town mayor turned over eight firearms consisting of one caliber .40 semi-automatic pistol, one cal. .357 revolver, two cal. .45 pistols, two 12-gauge shotguns, and two cal. 9mm pistols to the Abra Police Provincial Office and the Cordillera Regional Civil Security Unit. On the other hand, the vice mayor surrendered her 12-gauge shotgun.
