New GMA collab like a throwback for Mother Lily and Roselle
‘REGAL Studio Presents’ is like deja vu for Mother Lily and her daughter Roselle Monteverde since they also had shows with GMA in the 90s, “Regal Shockers” and “Mother Studio”.
“We’re glad to collaborate with GMA,” says Roselle at the zoom presscon even if she’s now in Arizona vacationing with her lawyer son who lives there with her first grandchild.
“We’ll give the audience bagong combinations sa casting in fresh stories and we might also do movies later. We might also do streaming, pero pinag-uusapan pa,” she says.
Will they get former Regal babies to star in “Regal Studio Presents”? “The first Regal Babies like Dina Bonnevie, Maricel Soriano and Snooky Serna of ‘Underage’, sana makuha namin. Tapos ‘yung second batch naman. But it will all depend sa schedule nila. Actually, andami naming pinaplanong pagsamahin sa casting in future shows.”
They do a lot of brainstorming for each story. “Every story featured in the show is treated like a movie, ang production, ang shoot, pati ang post production. Bawat episode, dumaraan muna sa creative team ng Regal to make sure we come up with the best materials.”
The next phase is collaborating with GMA Network. “We then meet with GMA’s creative team to discuss each story. We make sure iba-iba ang genres, from fantasy and romcom to drama and adventure. The first feature stars Sanya Lopez and Ken Chan in ‘That Thin Line Between’, a romcom. Then teen stars Sofia Pablo and Allen Ansay star in ‘Raya Sirena’, a fantasy love story about a mermaid. This will be followed by ‘One Million Comments, Magjojowa na Ko’ about love in this time of cyberspace starring Gabbi Garcia and Khalil Ramos.”
