THE Judicial and Bar Council has shortlisted six candidates for the seat to be vacated by retiring Supreme Court Associate Justice Estela Perlas-Bernabe.

The shortlist was already forwarded to President Rodrigo Duterte for his consideration.

Shorlisted were Court of Appeals Associate Justices Ramon Alcala Cruz, Maria Elisa Diy, Ronaldo Roberto Martin, Justice Fernanda Lampas Peralta, and Maria Filomena Singh.

Also, Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Geraldine Faith Econg has made it in the exclusive list.

Perlas-Bernabe will retire on May 14, 2022.

The JBC is constitutionally mandated to screen applicants for vacant posts in the judiciary and the Offices of the Ombudsman and Deputy Ombudsman.
