Combined personnel of the Land Transportation Office and the Philippine National Police on Tuesday arrested four truck drivers who tested positive for illegal drugs during a random anti-drunk and drug testing operations conducted in Gumaca, Quezon.

Lawyer Clarence Guinto, LTO-Law Enforcer Service Director, said the successful operation was launched in cooperation with the Philippine National Police and other government’s agencies to ensure the safety of passengers, drivers, conductors and pedestrians.

Guinto said out of the 24 truck drivers tested, four turned out positive for illegal drugs use.

The four drug-using truck drivers were turned over to the police for proper disposition.

Guinto said the agency, with the guidance of assistant secretary and LTO chief Edgar Galvante, has intensified its operation against erring drivers.

The move was in preparation for the expected influx of commuters who will spend the Holidays in their hometowns.
