CABANATUAN CITY – Nueva Ecija’s Provincial Task Force to End the Local Communist Armed Conflict has gained another success in their intensified campaign to draw more members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) and their supporters into the government’s folds.

This after a total of 39 mass base supporters of the CPP-NPA – 24 members from the Liga ng Manggagawang Bukid (LMB) and Alyansa ng mga Magbubukid sa Gitnang Luson (AMGL) under the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) and 15 members from the New Care Upland Agriculture Group (NCUAG) formally withdrew their support to the rebel group on Wednesday.

The voluntary surrender and withdrawal of support of the 24 LMB members, farmers based in Bgy. San Felipe, Llanera, were both made possible through the joint efforts of Llanera LGU (local government unit), the military and the police stations in Llanera, San Jose City, Muñoz Science City, Carranglan, Talavera, Aliaga, the 2nd PMFC, 303RDD MC-RMRB3, SAC14SAB PNP-SAF, and the PIU-NEPPO, said Nueva Ecija Acting Police Director Col. Jess B. Mendez.

Lt. Col. Robert D. Agustin, commander of the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, said the surrender of the 15 NCUAG members took place in Sitio Cunacon, Bgy. Pias, General Tinio at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday.

They were tagged as former supporters of the rebel’s KLG Sierra Madre group that harbored in their locality sometime in 2019.

Agustin said their group’s withdrawal of support was jointly facilitated by the PIU-NEPPO, NE-PECU, General Tinio Police, BFP General Tinio, IOS RID 3, and his unit.

These militant groups withdrew their support to the CPP-NPA-NDF (National Democratic Front) by signing a commitment of support and taking their oath of allegiance to the Philippine Government.

“I encourage other members of left-leaning groups/organizations in the province to also embrace and show allegiance to the government and to denounce the long years of deception of the CPP/NPA/NDF to ensure lasting peace and prosperity in the region being called for by our Police Regional Office 3 Director Brig. General Matthew P. Baccay,” said Mendez. By Steve A. Gosuico
