2 killed in Navotas shooting incidents

TWO men were killed in separate shooting incidents happened in a span of seven hours Wednesday in Navotas City.

Emil Matute, 23, was sitting along the sidewalk of Ignacio Street, a few meters away from his home at Bacog St. Daanghari when the suspect, identified as Angelo Ramos, legal age, and also a resident of Bacog St. approached him at around 9 p.m. and without a word shot him in the head at close range, in front of his elder brother Marlon, 24, killing him instantly.

After the killing, the suspect fled on foot towards Bagong Kalsada Street, leaving the victim’s brother unharmed.

Navotas police chief P/Col. Dexter Ollaging said investigators are yet to determine the motive behind the gun attack while a follow-up operation is still ongoing for possible arrest of the suspect.

Earlier at around 2:30 p.m., Vergel Villegas of Site 8 Brgy. NBBS Dagat-Dagatan was standing along Mandaragat St. when riding-in-tandem criminals appeared and shot him repeatedly in the body that resulted in his instantaneous death.

Police are eyeing personal grudge as the motive behind the killing.

Responding policemen from Sub-Station 4 led by P/Lt. Melody Manlubatan recovered a metal pipe and led fragment beside the victim’s body.
