17 Pinoy hostages ‘in good condition’
THE 17 Filipinos being held hostage by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea are “in good condition”, the Department of Foreign (DFA) said Thursday.
“Government sources say that the hostages are in good condition, and will eventually be released. Efforts are ongoing for this to happen as soon as possible,” a DFA statement said.
Diplomatic representations with foreign governments are ongoing for the release of the seafarers, the DFA said.
The 17 were among the 25 crew members of Galaxy Leader who were on board the cargo ship hijacked by the Houthi rebels on Nov. 19.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced he is dispatching a high-level delegation to Tehran, Iran to provide “necessary assistance” to the seafarers.
