Woman butchered by live-in partner in front of mother
“Mama he’s going to kill me!”
This was the last cry of a woman who was stabbed dead on Tuesday by her live-in partner in their home in Calamba City, Laguna.
Calamba City police chief Lt. Col. Milany Martirez identified the victim as Andrea Salve Tugadi Escalante and the suspect as John Lester Catambay.
Escalante was declared dead on arrival at the JP Rizal Hospital by attending physician, Dr. Alexis Asuncion.
The killing occurred in the “couple’s” house at Blk. 23, L16, APH Acasia Park Homes, Calamba City at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The victim’s mother told police that her daughter and Catambay arrived home arguing at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
The mother reprimanded the couple and advised them to settle the argument peacefully. The mother then went to her room.
Few minutes later, she heard her daughter screaming and pleading for help. The mother hurriedly went downstairs and was shocked to see Catambay stabbing her daughter repeatedly.
Catambay fled after the killing while the horrified mother rushed her daughter to the hospital but to no avail.
A follow-up operation is underway to arrest the suspect.
