Trike driver killed, another hurt in 3-vehicle collision in Batangas

A 26-YEAR-OLD tricycle driver was killed while another driver and several passengers were injured in a collision of two tricycles and a van Monday along a highway in Lipa City, Batangas.

Lipa City police identified the fatalities as John Carlo Aranda, married, helper. Wounded was his passenger identified as Hargie Ann Aranda y Danao, 27 married, an employee. Both are residents of Bgy. San Francisco, Lipa City.

Another driver was injured.

Case officers P/SSg Ireneo Balita, Jr., and P/Cpl Eliseo Lipay, Jr. saix investigation showed that around 8:45 p.m., a Rusi tricycle driven by Aranda, and a Yamaha Aerox driven by Mark Anthony Templo, 32, jobless, with back rider identified as Joyce Ann Aquino, 22, single, student and both residents of P. Laygo St., Bgy. Sabang were seen traveling in the same direction along the highway of P. Laygo St., Bgy. Sabang, this city.

Police said the Rusi tricycle overtook the Yamaha Aerox and accidentally collided with the oncoming Isuzu Dmax (VFF981) driven by Carmelo Lingao, 69, married, Bgy. Captain of Bgy. Lodlod, Lipa City.

The Rusi tricycle exploded and burned, injuring John Carlo and Hargie Ann.

Concerned citizens brought the two victims to Lipa City District Hospital where John Carlo was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Templo and his back rider also sustained injuries and were brought to the N. L. Villa Hospital for medical treatment.
