TRABAHO Partylist sees potential for jobs generation in gov’t push to prioritize PH semiconductor industry
TRABAHO Partylist has expressed its strong support for the Philippine government’s push to develop the country’s semiconductor industry, a critical sector for both technological advancement and economic growth.
The group’s spokesperson Atty. Mitchell-David L. Espiritu noted the semiconductor industry is a key player in boosting the country’s position in the global tech arena, stressing the importance of investments in education, workforce training, and infrastructure to build a skilled labor force that can meet the growing global demand for semiconductors.
The partylist also backed President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s call to update the CREATE MORE (Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises) Act to include provisions specifically designed to support the semiconductor industry. By amending the existing legislation, the government aims to provide targeted tax incentives, encourage more investments, and foster an environment conducive to innovation and sustainable growth within the semiconductor sector.
Atty. Espiritu noted the Philippines has already established itself as an important player in the global semiconductor market, with leading companies setting up production facilities in the country.
However, to remain competitive, TRABAHO Partylist believes the country must further develop its capabilities in research and development, technological innovation, and workforce education, he added.
Experts predict the semiconductor sector will experience significant growth, fueled by rising demand for electronic products and emerging technologies. TRABAHO Partylist aims to use its platform to propose legislation and policies to capitalize on these opportunities and position the country as a regional leader in semiconductor manufacturing, leading to more job opportunities for Filipinos.
