A 22-YEAR-OLD woman tagged as a top drug trafficking personality in Central Visayas was arrested by combined operatives of the Police Regional Office 7 and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency while some P17 million worth of shabu was seized in a buy-bust operation in Mandaue City in Cebu.
The suspect identified as alias “Perlyn Rose,” a resident of Bgy. Members of the MCPO’s DEU and City Intelligence Unit, with the help of officers from the PDEA Regional Special Enforcement Team conducted the sting, which netted nine plastic packets containing some 2.5 kilograms of the “poor man’s cocaine” and the buy-bust money topped by a marked bill.
The suspect’s mobile phone was confiscated during the operation and is now the subject of a digital forensic investigation to determine her possible drug contacts.
“We’re still conducting follow-up operations to identify and arrest the main source of the huge volume of drugs recovered from the suspect,” said Maranan.
The recovered pieces of drug evidence were submitted to the Philippine National Police Regional Forensic Unit 7 for examination and safekeeping.
The arrested suspect will be facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
