THE reported inclusion of Manila in the list of the world’s 20 most popular city destinations this summer should be welcomed by all sectors of Philippine society.

The Spanish travel analytics company “ForwardKeys” ranked Manila, capital of the country, which is the bastion of democracy in this part of the world, as No.19 on the list.

The “ForwardKeys” ranking was based on the cities’ index values from highest to lowest.

The “good news” is seen as a big boost to the government’s nationwide campaign to attract more foreigners to visit not only Manila but also other places in the country.

The city’s tourist destinations include Rizal Park, Fort Santiago, Manila Ocean Park, San Agustin Church, Manila Cathedral, Malacanang, Manila Zoo, Paco Park and Binondo.

Foreign and local tourists usually troop to Rizal Park just to watch the splendor and beauty of the world-famous Sunsets at sun-kissed and historic Manila Bay.

Manila’s Binondo, on the other hand, is the oldest Chinatown in the world. A must-see in Chinatown is the Binondo Chruch, an ancient Roman Catholic place of worship.

Other tourist destinations in the city are the Manila Baywalk, Arroceros Forest Park, Star City Amusement Park, Divisoria Market and National Museum Complex.

Aside from Manila, other Asian cities that made it to the elite list were Bangkok (Thailand), Denpasar (Indonesia), Singapore, Tokyo (Japan), and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).

But national and local government authorities must work in unison if Manila is to remain as one of the favoritie destinations of tourists from all over the world.

Dapat lang!
