Kusug Tausug party-list Rep. Shernee Tan-Tambut wears a Francis Libiran creation for the 3rd SONA of the President. It is a three-piece traditional attire of Royal Ladies of Sulu. A long blouse called “batawi,” traditional loose trousers called “sawwal” made of silk and embellished with beads and Swarovski cyrstals and a cloth overlay wrap around the waist called “kendang.” The lady solon decided to wear this so-called “power dressing” to show the wearer’s stature of power especially in a business setting. By wearing this outfit, she wanted to call the attention of the people that Sulu is ready for the tourists and Sulu is open for business.
