Soldier collared for not giving ‘child support’

BONGABON, Nueva Ecija – An Army soldier with an arrest warrant for violation of the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act or Republic Act 9262 was nabbed following the conduct of manhunt Charlie here on Thursday.

Town police head Major Nelson Sarmiento said the arrested suspect is an Army Private First Class, 27, of Bgy. Antipolo, this town.

His arrest was made by virtue of an arrest warrant for violation of Republic Act 9262 and issued by Judge Emelita Miranda-Portillo, of Family Court Branch 7, of Palayan City on May 17, 2022, with bail for his temporary liberty set at P36,000.

Warrant officer SSgt. Jimbo Pascua said the suspect was sued by his former wife for allegedly failing to provide financial support to his child under the woman’s custody. By Steve A. Gosuico
