CAMP CRAME yesterday presented the biggest losers in their weight loss program with outgoing Philippine National Police chief General Debold M. Sinas emerging as the biggest winner of them all after losing 32 kilograms or around 72 pounds over the past five months.

Fitness coach Jim and Toni Saret, the ones overseeing the PNP Chubby Anonymous program said that the PNP chief was actually the ‘biggest winner’ of them all since he really led by example when he implemented a weight reduction program when he was still the National Capital Region Police Office director,

Gen. Sinas said that he literally won his battle with the bulge over the past five months after going on a strict diet and a physical conditioning program. “I’ll try to lose more kasi magretire na ko,” he said.

The outgoing PNP chief said the program is concentrated in Camp Crame and NCRPO at present. Originally, he said that 20 police personnel joined the Chubby Anonymous program but the number of participants from the National Headquarters and the NCRPO eventually ballooned to 85.

On Monday, the Top 20 participants were presented to the press. The participants were not relieved from their assignments as they indulged mostly in online exercises being supervised by the Saret couple over the past eight weeks.

The participants really lost weight over the past eight weeks. Lieutenant Colonel Xerblyn Germino weighed 131 pounds before but is now at 115 pounds, Major Michell Ferrer now at 85.3 lbs from 97.1 lbs; Staff Sergeant Ryan Guillermo, lost 11 kilos as he is now 92.7 lbs from 103 lbs.; and Corporal Lawrence Gorgon, now at 99.7 lbs from 120 lbs, or almost a 12 kilo weight loss.

Others are Cpl. Kenneth Paredes, now at 106.7 lbs from 128.4 lbs.; Senior Master Sgt. Ruben Candelario, now at 76.5 lbs form 84.1 lbs; and Lt. Col. Elinor Bautista, now at 85.1 lbs from 100.6 lbs.

Candelario also got a special award for his extra effort in putting up his abdominal muscle.

Chief MSgt. Cristino Silayan, now at 129 lbs from 141 lbs; Cpl. Joanna Karla Masajo, now at 89.7 lbs from 105.3 lbs before.

The winners said that now that they are much lighter, their confidence have increased, their stamina have vastly improved and more importantly, they have gained more friends. The winners offered their success in losing weight to their spouses and kids.

Gen. Sinas encouraged more policemen to lose weight when he launched the Chubby Anonymous program last March 4 coinciding with the World Obesity Day. He also committed to a strict diet and exercise regimen.

According to the PNP, Chubby Anonymous seeks to improve the health and reduce the weight of obese police officers so they can do their duties better.

In November 2020, Sinas instituted a similar weight loss program among station-bound police officers. At the time, he lost 35 pounds on the merit of his improved diet and regular exercise. He has since lost more weight.

“On a personal note, I’d like to announce that when I established this program, I followed my program: diet, exercise, and proper sleep,” Sinas told members of the PNP in November 2020.
