Shiela ecstatic over series with John, Arjo
STAGE and TV actress Shiela Valderrama Martinez gets a chance to work with award-winning actor John Arcilla in the upcoming mini-series, ‘The Bagman,’ airing on Netflix.
Shiela cannot be any happier that she is joining the cast led by Arjo Atayde, with director Shugo Praico at the helm. The latter also penned the teleplay.
‘The Bagman’ marks Shiela’s return to the small screen. It will be remembered that she previously played a feisty lawyer in ABS-CBN’s afternoon teleserye, ‘Wildflower’ (2017) with Maja Salvador.
Shiela just finished a successful, two weekend re-run of the modern rock opera ballet, ‘Rama Hari’ that was well-received every night.
With five National Artists – two are still around – who worked in Rama Hari to present it back in 1980, the ballet musical was staged anew last year and restaged last February.
Cannes filmfest sends statement for Jaclyn
THE Cannes Film Festival released a statement after learning about the demise of award-winning actress Jaclyn Jose.
In 2016, Jaclyn made the country proud when she bagged the best actress trophy for Brillante Mendoza’s Ma’Rosa.
“On learning of the death of Filipina actress Jaclyn Jose, the Festival de Cannes remembers her face beaming with emotion when she received the award for Best Actress in 2016 in Brillante Mendoza’s Ma’ Rosa.
“As with so many of her roles, she illuminated this beautiful portrait of a woman, embodying it with grace and humanity,” the statement added.
