Sen. Pia Cayetano unveils state-of-art MRI, CT scan equipment at PCMC
THE Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) inaugurated its newly acquired MRI and CT scan equipment.
The event marked a huge step forward in advancing and improving healthcare services and infrastructure for Filipino children. Dr. Sonia Gonzalez, PCMC’s Executive Director, underlined Senator Pia Cayetano’s pivotal role in securing funding for the hospital’s infrastructure and essential medical assets.
With the addition of the MRI TESLA and CT Scan machines, PCMC foresees a more efficient and convenient pediatric patient care. The MRI machine, a first in the country, and the upgraded CT scan are expected to accommodate twice as many patients, providing even clearer images.
“These equipment would allow us to serve more children and help our medical personnel diagnose their patients faster and better,” the Senator explained.
Through the said funding, PCMC was also able to renovate its radiology division. “This is after 40 long years,” a PCMC employee added.
Cayetano said that her late father Senator Rene Cayetano was a liver transplant patient. She also recounted her personal experience as a parent who ‘lived’ in the hospital for nine months to care for her newborn son Gabriel. Gabriel was born with trisomy-13, a rare genetic condition and later succumbed to its complications. Senator Pia Cayetano ended her speech recognizing and highlighting the invaluable work of doctors and healthcare workers.
