PBBM to agencies: Ensure public safety, convenience during Holy Week

PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. directed concerned government agencies to ensure the safety of Filipinos returning to their hometowns to observe Holy Week, Malacañang said yesterday.

In a press briefing, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has been directed to conduct strict inspections at terminals, ports and airports to ensure that there will be no delays in operations leading up to the Holy Week.

“Nagbigay po ng order ang ating Pangulo hindi lamang po sa DOTr pero sa mga attached agency po to ensure the safety and convenience of all the passengers who will be travelling to their hometowns or will have vacations,” Castro told Palace reporters.

“Alam naman po natin na may mga pagkakataon na nagkakaroon pa rin, hindi maiiwasan na mayroong mangyayaring mga aksyon, mga krimen at hindi dapat matulog, iyan po ang direktiba ng Pangulo,” she added.

Castro said concerned agencies would heighten its monitoring to ensure the solemn observance of Holy Week.

The country will observe Holy Week from April 13 (Palm Sunday) to 19 (Black Saturday).

The Philippine National Police will deploy 40,151 police officers as part of its “Oplan Ligtas SumVac 2025” campaign to ensure public safety during Holy Week and to secure summer vacation travelers. Philippine News Agency
