Ruru refuses double in dangerous stunts in new action series
RURU Madrid is really being built up as a young action star. After the huge success of “Lolong”, he now topbills another hardhitting action-drama, “Black Rider”, which will replace the short-lived “Maging Sino Ka Man” on November 6.
“I’m really thankful to the GMA management sa tiwala nila sa akin,” says Ruru. “‘Black Rider’ is the biggest project assigned to me and my role as the lead character, Elias Guerrero, is one of my toughest assignments ever. As a crimefighter, maraming malalaking action scenes na ginastusan talaga ng GMA and I really gave it all my best, to the point na naaksidente ako one time. I injured the ligament on my knee kasi ayokong magpa-double at ako mismo ang gumagawa ng sarili kong stunts. I had to get a physical therapist to help me on the set.”
Ruru is elated to have Yassi Pressman as his leading lady in “Black Rider”. “Siya ang una kong crush when we both started dito sa GMA ten years ago. We just got to work together in the movie ‘Video City’ and it’s nice to have her in ‘Black Rider’ kasi napakagaan niyang katrabaho. She plays Bane, na magiging malaki ang kaugnayan sa character kong si Elias in the story.”
“Black Rider” is directed by Richard Arellano and Rommel Penesa who both lavishly praise Ruru for being so committed to the project and to his role as the “Black Rider”.
“Sobrang lakas ng loob ni Ruru in doing even the hardest fight scene and the most dangerous stunts,” says Direk Richard. “Kahit sabihin naming kumuha na lang ng double, hindi siya pumapayag kasi ayaw niyang dayain ang eksena.”
“Saludo talaga kami sa dedikasyon ni Ruru sa trabaho at marami siyang patatabihing action stars dahil sa tapang niya,” says Direk Rommel. “At hindi lang siya sa action magaling kundi maging sa dramatic scenes.”
Ruru is also glad that GMA gave him a powerhouse supporting cast to play the important characters in the show. The long list includes Matteo Guidicelli as Paeng Policarpio, Raymart Santiago as Gregorio Ricarte, Katrina Halili as Romana Nadela, Raymond Bagatsing as Edgardo Magallanes, Zoren Legaspi as Alfonso Buenaventura, Gladys Reyes as Sasha Buenaventura, Gary Estrada as Fredo Policarpio, Rio Locsin as Alma Guerrero and Roi Vinzon as William Romero.
Also in the massive supporting cast are Empoy Marquez as Oca, Ishko Moreno as Tiagong Dulas, Almira Muhlach as Rebecca Chen, Maureen Larrazabal as Baby Lyn, Aleck Bovick as Lorna, Bodgie Pascua as Lolo Sito, Vance Larena as Uno, Ashley Rivera as Paloma, Jon Lucas as Calvin Magallanes, Luis Hontiveros as Philip, Prince Clemente as Onat, Jayson Gainza as Estong, Janus del Prado as Miguelito, Kim Perez as Matias, Marco Masa as Benjie, Ashley Sarmiento as Neneng, Salome Salvi as Annabel, and the comebacking Starstruck alum Rainier Castillo as Arthur.
Additional guest stars include Kylie Padilla as Bernice, Carla Abellana as Becky, along with Monsour del Rosario, Joem Bascon, Joaquin Domagoso, Mariel Pamintuan, Annalyn Barro, Arra San Agustin, Simon Ibarra and the comebacking former teen star Joshua Dionisio who’s the first ka-love team of Barbie Forteza. With such a glittering cast, “Black Rider” is really one primetime show not to be missed when it airs on November 6!
