TAGAYTAY CITY, Cavite – Around 200 children aged 5 to 11 residents of this city received 1st dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at the start of the “ResBakuna Kids” COVID-19 vaccination program, Wednesday, February 9, 2022.

Department of Health (DOH) officials spearheaded the vaccination program of children held at Sky Ranch Tagaytay theme park.

Undersecretary Roger P. Tong-An of DOH and DOH-CHD Calabarzon Assistant Regional Director Dr. Leda M. Hernandez was the guest of the program to lead the ceremonial vaccination rollout.

Tagaytay City Vice Mayor Reymond Ambion, Tagaytay Councilor Athena Tolentino, Cavite 8th District Congressional candidate Aniela Bianca Tolentino, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Nelson Soriano, and SM Malls Assistant Vice President for Mall Operations Lorenzo Leon A. Calingasan IV graced the program.

All vaccinated kids were given carousel rides, gift packs, free food, face painting, and balloons.

Tagaytay City Health Officer Dr. Liza Capuspus and Provincial Health Team Leader Dr. Armida Camposagrado lead the administration of the vaccine that looked like a birthday party where some children wore costumes.

In Bacoor City, Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla and City Health Officer Dr. Ivy Marie Yraztorza lead the inoculation program for kids 5 to 11 years old on the 3rd floor of the Cinema area, SM City Bacoor.

582 kids received the 1st dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and enjoyed the kids’ festival-themed vax site like a birthday party for fun.

“We have already vaccinated our son for his protection against COVID-19 and in preparation for the return of face-to-face classes,” said Ellen Parohiinog, parent of a 10-year-old boy, who has been vaccinated in the program.

“Pinabakunahan ko na sila, para makalabas naman sila ng bahay, almost 2 years na sila nasa loob ng bahay lang, for their protection at pagbabalik eskwela na din, salamat po sa Bacoor LGU and SM for this vaccination program,” said Michelle De Jesus Abalos said after the jabs of her 2 kids aged 6, 8, and 11 years old.

While other towns and cities in Cavite will open their “ResBakuna for Kids” on Monday, parents are encouraged to register their children online for the vaccination process.
