FIRST win for NLEX Road Warriors
The trio of Xyrus Torres, Robert Bolick and Anthony Semerad combined for 69 points as NLEX posted a 109-95 win over Rain or Shine in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Malate, Manila.
Torres, the 6-1 rookie guard, finished with 28 points on an near-perfect 11-of-12 shooting from the field and 5-of-6 from beyond the arc in nearly 29 minutes of action to power the Road Warriors to their first win after an 89-98 setback to San Miguel Beer in their first game.
Bolick added a double-double performance of 23 points, 12 assists and six rebounds while Semerad contributed 18 points and seven rebounds.
Javee Mocon chipped in a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Caelan Tiongson carried the fight for coach Yeng Guiao-mentored E-Painters with 24 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the field, seven rebounds and three assists.
Leonard Santillan and Jhonard Clarito added 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Clarito also had seven rebounds and two assists while Santillan had six rebounds.
Adrian Nocum managed only 11 points on 5-of-13 shooting, seven rebounds and six assists while Gian Mamuyac chipped in 10 points and five rebounds.
The games resume on Wednesday with a doubleheader at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
