Rebel killed in Bohol encounter

A MEMBER of the New People’s Army (NPA) was killed while a soldier was wounded in an encounter on Saturday evening in Trinidad, Bohol.

The fatality sas identified as Joel Soria alias Joyjoy, member of the Bohol Party Commitee in Barangay Bansalan, Trinidad, Bohol.

The wounded army trooper was already brought to the hospital and is in stable condition.

Reports reaching Camp Aguinaldo showed that troops from 47th Infantry Battalion responded to a reported shooting in Barangay San Vicente when they encountered an undetermined number of armed men believed to be members of Bohol Party Committee.

The firefight lasted for 10 minutes and resulted to the death of the rebel.

Recovered from the encounter site were . 45 caliber fun hand grenade, two magazines with live ammunitions, radio, backpack with personal belongings, Bajaj Motorcycle and subversive documents.

As the remaining enemies withdraw in Bgy San Vicente, Trinidad the army continued the pursuit operation.

Another firefight transpired injuring a member of the 47IB caused by the shrapnel from a hand grenade thrown by the members of the Communist Terrorist Group.
