QUIBOLOY NEMESIS
NEW Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group director Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III said they will be filing more charges against backers and supporters of now jailed Pastor Apollo Quiboloy Jr. who threatened him and his men and their respective families during their 2-week search for the fugitive Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder.
The erstwhile Police Regional Office 11 director who led the successful manhunt for Quiboloy lamented that he and his officers as well as their families were on the receiving end of various threats and harassment from Quiboloy’s allies and die-hard supporters during their massive search for the televangelist and his four co-accused in a non-bailable human trafficking case.
According to Brig. Gen. Torre, criminal charges for direct assault will be filed against KOJC members who harassed members of the police force, journalists who covered their operation and other civilians during the search for Quiboloy.
“One of the complainants is General Nicolas Torre dahil kasama ako. I will also file the direct assault charges dahil may direct assault sa akin. I will be personally filing cases,” said the member of Philippine National Police Academy ‘Tagapaglunsad’ Class of 1993 who previously commanded the Quezon City Police District said.
Brig. Gen. Torre said although he understand the KOJC loyalists who came to the defense of self-proclaimed “Anointed Son of God,” he wants those who threatened even the families of the policemen who were only doing their job, him included, to be made answerable for their acts.
“‘Yung in-involve nila mga anak namin, mga asawa namin, ay teka muna, over and above the bakod na ‘yan. Hindi pupwede ‘yan,” he said.
The new PNP-CIDG director became the subject of hate messages in the social media during their 16-day search for Quiboloy.
He was called many derogatory names and his and his children’s social media accounts were flooded with hate messages, obviously coming from Quibioloy’s supporters.
“No sugarcoating, ang hindi katanggap tanggap diyan ay ini-involve nila ‘yung mga walang pakialam most especially ‘yung mga pamilya ng mga pulis, most especially ‘yung pamilya ko.
“‘Yung mga taong gumawa ‘nun ay talaga naman maghanda-handa sila dahil makakatanggap sila ng notices at dadalhin natin sila sa korte,” said Brig. Gen. Torre.
At the same time, the official said they are building-up their cases against members of the so-called “Angels of Death” of Quiboloy who were believed being used by the latter to threaten or intimidate their members who violate the latter’s will.
Quiboloy is now being held at the maximum-security PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame facing non-bailable charges for human trafficking.
The case stemmed from accusations that he used female and young members of the KOJC to sell goods and raise funds for his church.
He is also wanted by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation after a U.S. grand jury indicted him for conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion, sex trafficking of children, and bulk cash smuggling.
Brig. Gen. Torre has praised the Davao City police force headed by Colonel Hansel Marantan for the major role they played in tracking down Quiboloy who is known for his strong connection with the Duterte family.
According to him, the Davao City police showed they could be relied on despite long-time suspicions that many of them were only serving the Dutertes, Quiboloy and other influential people in the region.
“It is time for them to shed that kind of, it is time we shed that kind of prejudice against the Davao City police. Pinakita ng Davao police na talagang professional sila. Given the right circumstances, the right situation, the right mission, they will do the job. We will do the job…no matter how well connected with the entrenched political people and personalities ang target,” he said.
