
QC to welcome CNY, to launch Banawe Chinatown
THE Quezon City government is set to welcome the Chinese New Year with a grand celebration and the official launching of a redesigned Banawe Chinatown.
Banawe is the city’s vibrant Chinatown with a unique blend of history in culture, tourism, commerce and modern attractions.
To take place on Wednesday (January 29), the event features a colorful and exciting lineup of activities where visitors can look forward to exploring around 50 food and non-food businesses along Banawe stretching from Del Monte Avenue to Scout Alcaraz Street.
Mayor Joy Belmonte will lead the ribbon-cutting ceremony following a Dance Fit session.
A wishing tree, a 360° photo booth, and insights into what to expect in the Year of the Wood Snake will also be featured in the Chinese New Year –Banawe event.
Adding to the festivities, a traditional Dragon and Lion Dance will bring good fortune, followed by a Streetdance Competition showcasing the creativity and talent of Quezon City’s youth.
In the afternoon, audiences will be entertained by captivating performances from a Chinese Face-changing artist, as well as renowned artists Ice Seguerra, Kyle Echarri, and Jed Madela.
The celebration will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display, lighting up the night sky in a fitting finale to a day filled with culture, community, and joy.
To add depth to the celebration, a special episode of Usapang QC will feature Feng Shui Master Hanz and Acting Tourism Operations Officer Giana Barata of the QC Tourism Department.
