WHILE the anticipation is high for the much-awaited inaugural Premier Volleyball League Rookie Draft, the clubs have already unveiled their imports for the upcoming Reinforced Conference.

Cignal has secured the services of 6-foot-2 spiker MJ Perez, who will make another tour of duty in the country, the team announced on Wednesday.

Kurashiki Ablaze open hitter Asaka Tamaru, another familiar face for the Filipino fans, will be ZUS Coffee’s first-ever import.

Earlier, Chery Tiggo has bought back American Khat Bell, a two-time champion from the now defunct Philippine SuperLiga.

Choco Mucho, runners-up in the past two All-Filipino tournaments, has boosted its lineup by signing Greek outside hitter Zoi Faki as their foreign reinforcement.

Capital1 has recruited Russian outside hitter Marina Tushova to provide size, team owner Mandy Romero said during the PVL Draft Lottery earlier this week.

Perez, a seasoned player who also played in the PSL, joins an impressive lineup including Ces Molina and Vanie Gandler as the HD Spikers gear up for their redemption tour next month. Cignal missed the All-Filipino Conference semifinals.

A Venezuela native, the 32-year-old brings a wealth of overseas experience to the squad. Perez previously showcased her skills at Alexandria Sporting Club VC in Egypt and has also made appearances in Puerto Rico, Finland, Cyprus, France, Indonesia, Italy, and Vietnam.

Perez, a South American Championship bronze medalist, represented Venezuela in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, finishing 11th with her national team.

Meanwhile, Tamaru played a crucial role in leading Kurashiki to a championship victory over Creamline in last year’s Invitational Conference, where she was one of the Best Outside Spiker awardees.

Before her professional career with Kurashiki, Tamaru showcased her skills at Kyoto Sangyo University and Mimasaka High School.

“Nakita ko maglaro sa Japan, pwede. When I complimented her that she was strong, she said that she was still at 50-percent. Okay kami with her and the new girls, along with the new chance to be here,” Thunderbelles coach Jerry Yee said.

Tamaru previously joined Yee’s coaching staff at Farm Fresh in the PVL and at University of the East in the UAAP earlier this year.

Only 25, Faki brings a wealth of experience despite her youth for the Flying Titans.

Faki began her career playing for Greek clubs such as SFA Foivos Melission, AEK Athens, and GS Panionios before moving to the United States for college.

Faki attended the University of Pittsburgh and completed her collegiate volleyball career at San Diego State University.

Tushova, also 25, has played in various parts of the world.

In her first six years as a professional, Tushova competed for several clubs in Russia and was a member of the gold medal-winning Russian national team at the 2016 Europe U19 Championship.

Tushova then suited up for Swiss team Groupe E Valtra, Italian clubs Istres Provence Volley and Vandœuvre Nancy Volley-Ball, before returning to Russia to join Sparta Nizhny Novgorod.
