
‘Pusher’ killed in Ecija drug sting yields P40K shabu
LUPAO, Nueva Ecija — A suspected drug peddler was shot and killed during an anti-illegal drug operation-turned-encounter here on Tuesday.
In his report to Brig. Gen. Valeriano T. De Leon, Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director, Col. Jaime O. Santos, provincial police director, identified the slain suspect as Sotero Baer Jr., of Bgy. Camp Tinio, Cabanatuan City.
During the buy-bust, Baer sold shabu worth P500 to a police poseur-buyer but became suspicious and suddenly fired at the buyer which triggered a firefight that led to his death at 1:15 a.m. here.
Recovered from the clash site were the suspect’s Toyota Revo GLX (XKL-919), his cal.38 gun and shabu placed in a plastic sachet weighing six grams worth P40,000.
Brig. Gen. De Leon said the PRO3 is continuously conducting a more intensified and pro-active operations against illegal drugs in its quest to achieve a drug-free environment for Central Luzon.
