
PRO7 police nab 3 drug targets; P7.2M shabu recovered
TWO separate anti-narcotics operations in Central Visayas on Saturday led to the arrest of three top drug targets and the seizure of over a kilo of shabu worth about P7.2 million, Police Regional Office 7 director Brigadier General Anthony A. Aberin told the Journal Group.
Two of the suspects, identified as Roque Dalman alias ‘Rokrok,’ and Vinky Gervacio alias ‘Bingbing,’ were arrested in their house in Purok Gumamela, Barangay Calindagan in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.
Aberin said that armed with a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 issued by Judge Gerardo Paguio Jr., officers from the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office’s Drug Enforcement Unit and the officers Dumaguete City Police Station stormed the suspects’ residence 4:30 a.m. Saturday.
Policemen under Colonel Ronan R. Claravall recovered a plastic bag containing an estimated a kilo of shabu valued at P6.8 million and a weighing scale.
The third suspect, identified as Norman Caracena, was arrested in a buy-bust along Second St., Happy Valley, Bgy. Guadalupe, Cebu City past 1 a.m. Saturday.
Undercover officers from the PRO7 Regional Drug Enforcement Unit conducted the sting which resulted in the arrest of the 33-year old Caracena after he sold 50 grams of shabu worth P340,000 to an undercover officer.
Apart from 10 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing drugs and the buy-bust money topped by a marked P500 bill, the suspect also yielded one KG9 caliber 9mm sub-machine pistol with five 9mm ammunition, one cal. .357 revolver with four bullets, one cal. .38 revolver with three ammunition and one improvised 12-gauge shotgun with three bullets.
Aberin said he has ordered follow-up operations to identify and arrest the main source of the illegal drugs recovered from the three suspects.
