PRO6 AGENTS SEIZE NEARLY P20.6-M SHABU, ARREST TOP VISAYAS DRUG DEALER
A TOP drug personality in Western Visayas was arrested by agents of the Police Regional Office 6 in a buy-bust operation in Bacolod City on Tuesday which led in the confiscation of more than three kilos of shabu valued at nearly P20.6 million, PRO6 director, Brigadier General Sydney N. Villaflor announced yesterday.
According to the official, undercover officers from the Bacolod City Police Drug Enforcement Unit led the anti-narcotics operation at Purok Neptune in Barangay Singcang Airport on Tuesday afternoon which resulted in the major shabu haul.
Recovered during the sting were 3.20 kilograms of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ worth P20,536,000.000, the PRO6 director said.
The arrested suspect who was identified only as alias ‘Tata’ yielded a total of 15 plastic packets containing the drugs, the buy-bust money topped by several marked bills and P1,500 in cash which are believed to be part of his drug proceeds.
Brig. Gen. Villaflor said the true identity of the suspect was withheld amid their ongoing operations to identify and arrest his main drug supplier.
He also commended his men who were involved in the successful anti-drug operation, the biggest so far to be made by the PRO6 this year.
“Ito po ang pinakamalaking tagumpay natin sa away kontra droga sa rehiyon. Tagumpay hindi lang dahil nahuli at nakumpiska natin ang mga iligal na droga kundi tagumpay dahil marami na naman po ang ating maililigtas na mga kababayan lalo na ang ating mga kabataan laban sa hindi magandang epekto ng ipinagbabawal na gamot,” he said.
The suspect who is now being held in a Bacolod City police jail will be facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Act of 2002, said Brig. Gen. Villaflor.
