PNP TAPS KOREAN ROTARY CLUB’S SUPPORT IN HELPING KALAYAAN ISLAND FOLK

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has tapped the support of South Korean Rotary Club members in providing assistance to residents of Kalayaan Island in Palawan, the Journal Group learned.

The appeal was made by PNP Director for Police-Community Relations, Major General Edgar Alan O. Okubo to members of the Rotary Club of Korea District 3680 led by District Governor Heejong Cheon when they visited Camp Crame last week. Members of the Rotary International District 3780 led by Governors Paul Angel Galang, Milo Lucenario, Ed Ayento and Samuel Pagdilao Jr. and the Rotary Club of Camp Crame led by Brigadier Gen. Jason Ortizo accompanied the Korean rotarians.

During their talk, Gov. Heejong Cheon expressed his group’s eagerness to help in future programs of their counterparts.

Maj. Gen. Okubo emphasized the significant role of the Rotary and the unwavering support it provides to various activities of the PNP.

He also underscored their shared commitment to advancing social causes and promoting integrity.

The official also announced the launch of a proposed PNP-Rotary Club joint project in the remote Kalayaan municipality which is part of the Spratlys Islands.

He said that members of the PNP Revitalized-Pulis sa Barangay are set to provide essential government services to residents of Barangay Pag-asa in Kalaayan municipality.

Maj. Gen. Okubo said they really need the assistance of the Rotary Club International to ensure that their planned mission in Kalayaan Islands will be a success.
