THE Philippine National Police headed by General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil yesterday paid tribute to Filipino World War 2 heroes as the country commemorated the 82nd Araw ng Kagitingan or Day of Valor.

“On this day of Araw ng Kagitingan, we honor the courageous souls who displayed bravery during the Fall of Bataan in World War II. Their resilience and patriotism in the face of adversity serve as a lasting symbol of Filipino heroism,” said the top cop in a statement.

“We pay homage to the Filipino and American soldiers who bravely defended our homeland, enduring unimaginable hardships during the Bataan Death March. Their sacrifices serve as a reminder of the true price of freedom and the importance of standing against tyranny and oppression,” he added.

As the country commemorated the historic event, Gen. Marbil also called on all officers and men of the 232,000-strong police force to reaffirm their commitment to upholding the principles of freedom, democracy, and sovereignty.

“Let us honor the memory of our heroes by fostering unity, justice, and peace within our communities,” he said as he led the police force in vowing to protect the rights and well-being of all Filipinos to ensure that the sacrifices of our past heroes are never forgotten as they work towards a brighter future together.
