PNP-DEG agents nab 4 wanted drug traffickers

PHILIPPINE National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) director, Brigadier General Remus B. Medina on Tuesday announced the arrest of four most wanted drug personalities in the country.

In a report to PNP chief, General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar, the official said that the suspects he identified as Manito Caballes, Benjie Paragas, Reggie Calderon and Alexis Joshua Mesa are all facing non-bailable charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Brig. Gen. Medina said that Caballes, a 35-year old resident of 503 Upper San Roque, A. Lopez Street in Barangay Calamba, Cebu City was arrested by DEG Special Operations Unit 2 and Police Regional Office 7 operatives on the strength of a warrant issued by Judge Glenda Go of the Cebu City Regional Trial Court Branch 65.

The same judge has already ordered the accused to serve his sentence, said the official.

On the other hand, Paragas,33, was arrested in Lacaste Village Drive in Bgy. Pasonanca in Zamboanga City on the basis of a warrant issued by Judge Shaldilyn Bangsaja of the Zamboanga City RTC Branch 33.

Calderon, a 34-year old resident of Phase 7, Bagong Silang, Caloocan City was served a warrant for his arrest issued by Judge Victoriano Cabanos of the Caloocan City RTC Branch 127 inside the Caloocan City Jail.

Mesa,24, a resident of Upo Street, Welfareville Compound in Mandaluyong City was arrested on orders of Judge Ermin Ernest Louie Miguel of the Mandaluyong City RTC Branch 281, said Medina.
