
PNP-CIDG jail six most wanted fugitives
SIX of the country’s most wanted fugitives from law were hauled to jail by agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in a series of manhunt operations in the country this week, the Journal Group learned yesterday.
PNP-CIDG director Major General Nicolas D. Torre III said the six have been hiding from the law for 13 to 25 years already until they were tracked down in their respective hiding places.
“These arrests is part of our effort to enhance the PNP’s crime prevention and solution efficiency and intensify the manhunt operation against most wanted persons in the country as ordered by PNP chief General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil,” the official said.
Maj. Gen. Torre said last April 5, members of the CIDG Ilocos Norte Provincial Field Unit arrested ‘Jovel,’ a man wanted for murder and frustrated murder in Barangay San Isidro, Valley 6 in Parañaque City.
The Barotac Viejo Regional Trial Court in Iloilo City issued the warrants for the arrest of the suspect in 2012 and 2019 respectively.
Maj. Gen. Torre said the suspect who is the subject of a P145,000 reward offered by the Department of Interior and Local Government transferred to different places in Antipolo City and Metro Manila for nearly 12 years before he was finally captured.
Last April 7, CIDG Kalinga PFU operatives arrested one ‘Judy,’ a woman wanted for an estafa case since January 2003. The Tabuk City RTC ordered the arrest of the accused who was caught in Purok 3, Bgy. Bulanao in Tabuk City.
The following day, members of the CIDG Western Samar PFU arrested two brothers identified as ‘Eking’ and ‘Jerry’ in Bgy. Hiparayan in Gandara, Samar on the strength of non-bailable warrants of arrest for murder.
Maj. Gen. Torre said the two were accused of killing one ‘Pablo’ with the use of a shotgun and a bolo during their fiesta celebration on July 5, 1997. The Gandara, Samar RTC ordered the arrest of the two were went scot-free for almost 26 years until they were caught.
On the same day, CIDG Davao del Sur PFU officers arrested one ‘Aron,’ a farmer wanted for three counts of rape in his hiding place in Nabunturan, Compostela Valley.
A local court issued a non-bailable warrant of arrest against the suspect in May 2000.
Last Thursday, CIDG Baguio PFU personnel arrested one ‘Lawrence,’ a man wanted for estafa since 2002.
“Rest assured that the CIDG is unrelenting and unyielding in pursuing all fugitives anywhere in the country and catch them anytime, soon. For many weeks now, Isa-isa na naming nahuhuli ang mga madudulas na wanted persons na ilang dekada nang nagtatago sa batas at sa otoridad. Hindi kami titigil hanggat hindi kayo mahuhuli lahat. Mabuti pang sumuko na kayo,” said Maj. Gen. Torre.
