PNP-CIDG jail 97 wanted persons in 3-day operation
PHILIPPINE National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group director Major General Nicolas D. Torre III has announced the arrest of 97 wanted persons in a 3-day CIDG manhunt operation across the country.
“This is in line with our intensified effort to account for most wanted persons and other fugitives nationwide as ordered by PNP chief, General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil,” the official said.
Maj. Gen. Torre said that from March 18-20, different CIDG units nationwide conducted 97 manhunt operations which netted the 97 MWPs.
He said the CIDG Luzon and National Capital Region Unit caught 46 of the suspects, two of them wanted for a non-bailable rape case in Nueva Ecija and Camarines Norte respectively; and another man wanted for a double murder case in Pampanga involving a local beauty queen and his Israeli fiancé.
CIDG Visayas field units arrested 21 of the targets including three men wanted for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, qualified rape of a minor and acts of lasciviousness in Mandaue City, Negros Oriental and Cebu City respectively.
On the other hand, the CIDG Mindanao units tracked down 30 of the wanted persons including a man wanted for a murder case since 2012l, and two others wanted for murder and rape.
Maj. Gen. Torre emphasized that one of the flagship programs and main task of CIDG is its Oplan: Pagtugis which focuses on the arrest of wanted persons all over the country.
“I commend the men and women of CIDG for doing a great job of pursuing and catching 97 fugitives in just 3 days. Capturing criminals is a difficult, dangerous and risky task, but you never fear, you never falter, and you never fail the government in putting the criminal behind bars to help victims attain the justice they deserved. Kung hindi tayo, sino ang huhuli sa mga ito. Isang taos pusong pasasalamat sa inyo,” said the PNP-CIDG director.
