PhilHealth approves Speaker Romualdez’s request for additional financial assistance for dialysis patients
THE PhilHealth board, led by Health Sec. Ted Herbosa, has approved House Speaker Martin Romualdez’s request to increase PhilHealth’s financial assistance for the dialysis of diabetic patients nationwide.
According to Sec. Herbosa, from P2,600 per session, PhilHealth will cover up to P4,000, to include the injection and other drugs that can be claimed separately by the patient.
“This was the request of Speaker Romualdez, base na rin sa pahayag ng pangulo noong nakaraan niyang SONA na gawin ng totally free ang hemodialysis treatment,” according to Herbosa, who is also the chairman of PhilHealth.
The Speaker is very grateful for PhilHealth’s quick response to his request.
“Sobrang salamat PhilHealth kasi we proposed it to them just last month at heto may resulta na agad,” said Speaker Romualdez.
“Maraming Pilipino ang makikinabang sa dagdag financial assistance na ito ng ahensya,” according to the Congress’ leader.
Based from the records of the Department of Health (DOH), there are 4.5 million Filipinos with diabetes and more than one million are undergoing dialysis.
“Malaking tulong talaga ito dahil pati gamot o iniksyon na laging problema ng mga pasyente, finally sasagutin na rin ng PhilHealth,” Romualdez added.
