PH gets more doses of Moderna vax

ANOTHER shipment containing 682,360 doses of US-made Moderna vaccine arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 yesterday morning on a China Airlines flight from the United States via Taipei.

Around 9:34 a.m. when the aircraft containing four pallets of American vaccines touched down at the NAIA .

The vaccines were received at the airport by Engr. Maximi Adan, of the Department of Health; Dr. Ted Herbosa, of NTFOPAPP; and Janet Jakosalem, of Zuellig Pharma, as the vaccines loaded in three refrigerated trucks were transported to the cold storage facility in Parañaque City manned by Bureau of Customs NAIA security force.

The country had received 12,383,000 doses of Moderna vaccines and some 3,151,160 doses procured by the private sector.

The vaccines will be used as booster shots for medical frontliners and to minors from 12 to 17 years old, according to Herbosa of NTFOPAPP.

Herbosa said the government wanted to inoculate more than 15 million people during the national vaccination drive from November 29 to December 1 to be participated in by the local government units, private sectors and non-government organizations.

Meanwhile, the country will receive on Wednesday another shipment of 700,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine donated by the Australian government via Hong Kong on a Cathay Pacific Airlines flight.
