THE Philippines Football League has postponed the August 21 kick-off date of its new season.

Due to the continuing spread of COVID-19 and the reimposition of the ECQ in the National Capital Region and its surrounding areas, the league is now plotting for a September 25 opening.

“The league prioritizes the health and safety of the players, coaching staff, match officials, sponsors, and other stakeholders involved in the organization of the matches,” said the PFL in a statement.

The PFL is reminding the football community to continue practicing the minimum health and safety protocols in their communities to help the nation combat the spread of the virus.

Last year, the United City FC ruled the tournament held in a bubble set-up at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.
