PETROGAZZ rediscovered the form that installed itself as the No. 2 team in the preliminaries with an emphatic 25-19, 25-13, 28-26 sweep of ZUS Coffee, forcing their Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference quarterfinals series to a winner-take-all at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Turning 27 yesterday, Brooke Van Sickle gave herself a fitting birthday gift—a commanding performance to keep the Angels’ semifinals hopes alive.

Van Sickle finished with 17 points and collected eight digs to lead PetroGazz.

MJ Phillips was also big for the Angels’ big bounce back from a shock 21-25, 23-25, 25-27 loss in last Tuesday’s series opener with two blocks for a 11-point effort. Myla Pablo and Jonah Sabete also had 11 points.

“I’m just proud of tge team. We came flat the last game,” said Van Sickle. “The goal is to have fun and enjoy. We really did a good job on that.”

“It’s gonna be a battle next game. The game is done now and we have to focus on the next,” she added.

The deciding Game 3 is scheduled on Tuesday at the Philsports Arena.

Chinnie Arroyo hammered 10 kills, the lone Thunderbelle who scored in double digits.

ZUS Coffee’s Clo Mondoñedo was outplayed by her PetroGazz counterpart Chie Saet, who tossed in 18 excellent sets.
