Creamline back in the semis of PVL All-Filipino
SECURING a record 17th Premier Volleyball League semifinals, Creamline has been so confident as ever with coach Sherwin Meneses’ tried and tested system.
Their championship mettle tested time and again by a relentless Chery Tiggo side, the Cool Smashers turned to their vast experience to hack out a 20-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-22 victory over the Crossovers in the All-Filipino Conference quarterfinals at the Ynares Center in Antipolo late Saturday.
Creamline joined Choco Mucho and Akari Chargers in the semifinals, a single-round robin affair, which starts on Saturday.
The last semis berth will be contested by PetroGazz and ZUS Coffee in a sudden-death showdown tomorrow at 6 p.m. at the Philsports Arena.
“We trusted each other and worked hard to bring back our good vibes and energy after a slow start,” said Bea de Leon, who tallied 14 points, including five blocks, in the clincher.
“We believed in the system. Coach Sherwin (Meneses) gave us clear instructions, and we focused on executing them,” she added.
De Leon also highlighted that the Cool Smashers’ execution in matches stems from their disciplined approach in training, once again crediting Meneses and the coaching staff.
“Yun, everyday naman kami ni-reremind ni Coach Sherwin na trabaho lang kami. Kahit mahaba, siyempre, may sistema siya so naka-pace talaga ‘yon. And everyday din talaga, binibigay niya din sa amin kung ano kailangan, and may tiwala din kami doon,” De Leon said.
“We always really maximize and work on everything from the basics, do what we need to do, kung sino na yung kalaban namin. Systematic naman din siya, mindset lang, ayun lang din talaga,” she added.
